Dr. Velazquez is a 1987 graduate of the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine. He began his veterinary career at Middletown Animal Hospital and became a partner in 1993. Dr. V purchased Sea Girt Animal Hospital in April, 2011. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, New Jersey Veterinary Association, and the Jersey Shore Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. V has a special interest in internal medicine, surgery and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, basketball and motorcycling.

Michael Yurkus, DVM

Dr. Yurkus graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 following undergraduate graduation from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. His veterinary career began on the north shore of Massachusetts before moving to Middletown, NJ where he resides with his wife, 4 children and his Great Dane, Diego. A partner at Middletown Animal Hospital, Dr. Yurkus became partner at Sea Girt Animal Hospital in April, 2011 and practices here part time.

Marisa Sabia, DVM

Dr. Sabia graduated from University of Georgia in 1999 and began her veterinary career in Turnersville, NJ. When she began her employment at SGAH in 2002, she settled in rapidly and became part of the family here, well-liked by staff and clients alike. Dr. Sabia enjoys surgery, exotics and likes working up interesting cases. She is a member of the AVMA. During the past 10 years, she has also managed to expand her family. She currently has 2 cats, 1 dog, and 2 house monkeys, all of which are tamed by her personal zookeeper.

David Ackerman, DVM

Dr. Ackerman is a 1973 graduate of the Veterinary College at Cornell University. After a stint as an equine vet, Dr. Ackerman specialized in companion animal practice. He is a former practice owner and had practiced in many parts of New York State before relocating to the Jersey Shore. He joined the staff of Sea Girt Animal Hospital as an associate in 2007. He is a member of the AVMA, and a member of the Society of Aquatic Veterinary Medicine. As a veterinary senior, Dr. Ackerman was awarded the Charles Gross Bondy award for small animal medicine. Dr. A is currently the proud owner of two cats, Thelma and Louise. In his spare time Dr. A enjoys working out, practicing yoga and scuba diving (and of. course the beach).

Heather Friedman, DVM

Dr. Friedman graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019, and completed her clinical training at Purdue University. Originally from Clifton, she is very happy to be back in New Jersey to practice! Dr. Friedman is the proud parent to 2 rescue pets, Jasper the island kitty and Violet the yellow lab. Dr. Friedman has special interests in surgery, pain management, emergency medicine, and feline internal medicine. Outside of the office, she enjoys taking Violet to the beach, reading, and going to concerts.

Kyle Moyer, DVM

Dr. Moyer graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 after completing his clinical training at Auburn University in Alabama. After spending time in equine regulatory medicine, Dr. Moyer joined the team at Sea Girt Animal Hospital in the fall of 2019. His interests outside of veterinary medicine include Philadelphia sports, nature, and spending time with his fiance Michelle, their dog Rusty, and two cats Toby and Dunkel.

Sea Girt Animal Hospital is a premier animal hospital conveniently located at 2129 Route 35 in Sea Girt, New Jersey.

We have five wards, five exam rooms, 13 outdoor runs, two offices, large surgery and x-ray facilities, in addition to several treatment rooms and a fenced yard. We provide specialized care to dogs and cats, as well as rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, and some reptiles for routine exams.
